YUKON, Okla. – Jo Glenn, a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, will speak to the Canadian County Democrats on Monday, May 9.

The Democrats’ meeting will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. in the training room at the Yukon Police Department, 100 S. Ranchwood Boulevard.

Participants who want to join the meeting on Zoom may text email addresses to 405-326-3600 or chair@canadiancodems.org before 5 p.m. on Monday. Meeting organizers need this information in time to email the Zoom link and code required to attend.

The meeting will also be live streamed on the Facebook page Canadian County Democrats News and Information at @canadiancodems.

Glenn is lifelong Oklahoman who graduated from the University of Tulsa and practiced law for many years before she began teaching in the classroom.

She currently teaches Oklahoma history at Will Rogers College High School for Tulsa Public Schools.

“As a former Tulsa Democratic Party chair, Jo Glenn knows the importance of fair, honest, elections and the power of the people to organize,” Canadian County Democrats Secretary Shirley Burton said. “She is running to unseat (Senator) James Lankford to defend our democracy, ensure equal voting access, and protect women’s rights.”

“The right of Oklahomans to vote is currently under attack,” Glenn said. “With new voter suppression laws passing nationwide, it is now more important than ever to oppose these unconstitutional tactics.

“Women have been fighting for equal rights, equal opportunity and control over their lives and destiny for the entirety of our country’s existence,” Glenn said. “I look forward to continuing the fight alongside a new generation of women and men who realize that reproductive freedom is essential for women and families.”

The Canadian County Democrats regularly meet at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month, except December, at the Yukon Police Department, 100 S. Ranchwood Boulevard. The meetings are also live streamed on Zoom and Facebook @canadiancodems.org.
