YUKON, Okla. – Young Democrats of Oklahoma President JeKia Harrison will speak to the Canadian County Democrats at their monthly meeting on Monday, October 9.

The Democrats meet from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Yukon Police Department, 100 S. Ranchwood Boulevard, on the second Monday of each month, except December when they have a party.

The Young Democrats of Oklahoma is the official youth branch of the Oklahoma Democratic Party.

Harrison, who lives in Oklahoma City, also serves as secretary of Georgia Brown Federated Democratic Women.

She is a graduate of Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Harrison is employed as a legislative assistant for the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

She has worked as a member of field and political teams for local, state and federal campaigns, including the 2021 Georgia Senate runoff and most recently the Kendra Horn for Senate campaigns.

“Through my upbringing and time at Fisk University, I was taught service is the rent we pay for the privilege to live on this earth,” Harrison said,

The theme of service is evident in Harrison’s social organizations. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, Inc., and is a 2020 New Leaders Council – Oklahoma fellow.

When she is not serving others, Harrison spends her free time with her pup, Jax, and watches sports.

“Young. United. Voting” is the Young Democrats of America’s slogan. The organization’s mission is to elect Democrats, advocate for progressive issues and train the next generation of progressive leaders.
