Oklahoma Democratic Party National Convention Overview

The Oklahoma Democratic Party (ODP) is making plans to send state delegates to the 2020 Democratic National Convention, July 13-16, in Milwaukee, WI.

Let’s make our votes count! Canadian County’s convention delegates elected in 2019 will meet again for a one-day ODP Delegate Selection Convention on April 4, 2020. We will select 42 delegates and 3 alternates to go to the national convention. Please plan to attend if you are a delegate (or fill out a proxy giving your vote to another delegate):

County officers – Jody Harlan, Chair; Dennis Purifoy, Vice Chair; Shirley Burton, Secretary; Mike Fuller, Affirmative Action Male; and Bobbye Gorden, Affirmative Action Female.

CD3: Chantelle Cory, Sarah Carnes, Ron Cobb, Bruce Fraker, Laurie Hammons, Mark Hammons, Cherry Rain, Linda Shuler, Philip Shuler and Daniel Weber.

CD4: Kandace Howell, Walter Davis, Don Lehman and Mary Rangel-Mattox.

Do you want to be a national delegate? Submit 2 forms to ODP by Feb. 26, 2020: Statement of Candidacy (your info) at https://tinyurl.com/qpu8qj8 and Pledge of Support (which presidential candidate you support) at https://tinyurl.com/vdhp4um. Get more information at https://okdemocrats.org/ when available. Delegates pay for their own travel, hotel and most food.

Important: Any Democrat can run to be a national delegate. (You do not have to be a voting delegate at Oklahoma’s April 4 state convention.)

Canadian County may be selected to host training about the delegate selection process.
