YUKON, Okla. – Chantelle Cory will focus on the roles and responsibilities of different government structures at the Canadian County Democrats’ monthly meeting from 7 -8:30 p.m. on Monday, February 11.

Seating is first come, first served for the free meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Yukon Police Department, 100 S. Ranchwood.

What is the difference between local, county, state, and federal government? Who is in charge? How do you get your concerns heard?

Cory will focus on answers to these questions and more.

Her presentation is the second in the organization’s new educational series Effective Voter.

The goals of the series are to inform voters about government and public policy and encourage their active participation in their government at every level.

The Canadian County Democrats will temporarily reschedule and relocate their regular monthly meetings in March and April to accommodate a larger number of participants expected to elect precinct and county officers.

“Many people get their start in politics by showing up at precinct meetings held every two years,” Jody Harlan, Canadian County Democrats Chair Jody Harlan said. “We looking for officers for more than 50 precincts or neighborhoods. The odds are if you show up, you’ll be elected and have a great time.”

All registered Democrats are encouraged to attend the precinct officer elections held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, 03/14/19, at Canadian Valley Tech Center, 6505 E Hwy 66, Seminar Room C, El Reno. Map:
