Dr. John E. Karlin to speak about Christian Nationalism at Canadian County Democrats’ October 13 meeting
YUKON, Okla. – John E. Karlin, Ph.D. will speak to the Canadian County Democrats about the Christian Nationalism movement at 7 p.m. on Monday, October 13 at the Yukon Police Department, 100 S. Ranchwood.
Dr. Karlin, a retired professor of sociology and administration of justice, will focus on the movement’s long-term and short-term goals by linking their ideology and belief system to those goals.
“This makes their goals understandable as well as their rationales, beliefs and ideology that motivate them to accomplish those goals,” Dr. Karlin said.
He will explain Christian Nationalism in the context of a movement to convert the United States from a Democratic nation into a theocracy serving the interests of oligarchs in whom power is primarily concentrated.
“Christian Nationalism is a leadership-driven movement at all levels and fueled by beliefs, ideology and emotions,” Dr. Karlin said.
“It is more of an association of believers rather than an organization,” he added. “There can be wide variation among believers, who range from strict hard-core to fringe to casual believers, in terms of what they believe and their goals.’
The ultimate or long-term goal is to destroy the U.S. as a free and Democratic nation and replace it with a Christian theocracy kept in place by oligarchs,” Dr. Karlin said.” A theocracy is just as fascist as ISIS, the Taliban or any other fanatical religious regime.”
Dr. Karlin dedicated 21 years to full-time teaching at the college level at Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma City University, Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Louisiana State University in Eunice, Louisiana and Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City, Kansas.
He was employed for four years as a graduate teaching assistant with a full range of teaching responsibilities at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas and Louisiana State University in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Dr. Karlin earned a bachelor’s of science degree at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas in 1974, a master’s of science in administration of justice at Wichita State University in 1975 and a doctor of philosophy degree at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, Louisiana.
