Optometric association director to speak Sept 10 against ballot measure changes to vision care

YUKON, Okla. – Joel Robison, executive director of the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians, will speak on Monday, September 10, about State Question 793.

The ballot measure proposes to allow big corporations to offer optometric services in their retail stores in Oklahoma.

The meeting, which is hosted by the Canadian County Democrats, will begin at 7 p.m. at the Yukon Police Department, 100 S. Ranchwood Boulevard.

Seating is available on a first come, first served basis. There is no charge to attend.

“Taking optometric physicians out of medical clinics and lowering the standard of medical care is bad for Oklahomans and bad for vision health,” Robison said. “We must stand up for quality medical care and vision health by voting no on State Question 793.”

Robison also opposes changes to the Oklahoma Constitution required by SQ 793.

He has served for three years as executive director for the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians.

Robison was previously employed as chief of staff at the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

He has also worked with education groups representing teachers and other school personnel.

Robison is married and has one married daughter, who Is expecting their first grandchild.
