US Senate candidate N’kiyla “Jasmine” Thomas to speak to Canadian County Democrats March 9
Candidate for US Senate N’Kiyla “Jasmine” Thomas is a Chickasaw citizen, nurse and active-duty military spouse who will be the Canadian County Democrats’ featured speaker Monday, March 9, at Canadian Valley Technology Center El Reno located at 6550 S. E. Highway 66 between Yukon and El Reno.
Guests are welcome use the east entrance on the south side of the building to join the group between 7-8:30 p.m. in classroom 2A/2B. CVTC requires visitors to bring a state-issued ID to be scanned for their visitor management system,
The Canadian County Democrats meet at the same time and location on the second Monday of each month except December when they have a holiday party.
Born and raised in Ardmore, Oklahoma, Thomas comes from humble beginnings and has dedicated her life to serving others through healthcare, advocacy and community service.
“I represent the next generation of leadership—one that puts people over profit, community over corporations, and truth over politics,” she said. “I’m not a career politician. I’m not backed by billionaires or corporate lobbyists. I’m one of you—an Oklahoman who understands the struggles of working families, teachers, veterans, small business owners and everyday people fighting to make ends meet. I know what it’s like to feel ignored by those in power, and I refuse to stand by while our communities suffer.”
Thomas’ political priorities are rooted in fighting for the underserved and unheard in areas that include:
• Healthcare: Addressing the nursing shortage and protecting women’s healthcare rights
• Infrastructure: Fixing Oklahoma’s crumbling roads, bridges, and utilities
• Agriculture: Supporting our farmers and ranchers with practical policies
• Education: Ensuring quality resources for all children, including those with special needs
• Civil Rights: Advancing equality for all Oklahomans
“For too long, we’ve watched as the systems meant to serve us have failed,” she said. “We’ve seen politicians prioritize profits, special interests and personal agendas over the well-being of Oklahomans. That must end.”
As a Black, White, and Native American woman, Thomas is dedicated to preserving tribal sovereignty and working alongside Native leaders to protect tribal land, rights and cultural heritage.
She has also been a lifelong advocate for LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual/Ally+) rights and is equally committed to supporting survivors of domestic violence.
Thomas and her husband Patrick are raising their son Treycen who was diagnosed with level 2 autism at age two and daughter Adeya is neurotypical.
“As a mother navigating the challenges of special education and therapy, I know firsthand how difficult it can be for families to access quality healthcare and educational resources.”
