Democratic data expert to explain shift in Canadian County data August 11
YUKON, Okla. – The Canadian County Democrats have invited data expert Dan Williams, to explain political shifts in Canadian County from 7-8:30 p.m. on Monday, August 11.
The meeting will be held at the Yukon Police Department, 100 S. Ranchwood.
“Even though Oklahoma is constantly written off as a red state, there are still incredibly interesting political dynamics shifting around beneath the surface,” Williams explained.
“This is especially true in Canadian County as the electorate there is constantly changing due to the massive migration into the county from both in state and out of state.”
Williams’ research reveals that Canadian County shifted 3.24 percent to the left or toward Democratic election results from 2020 to 2024.
“This is very impressive in the face of the 6-point shift right that happened nationwide,” he said. “It will only be by properly understanding how the electorate is changing that we can prepare for the future and build out a strong bedrock for organizing.”
As someone who has worked on many different campaigns, Williams believes, “Campaigns are an exercise in resource allocation and management and without the proper data we will not understand the resources we have and how to manage them.”
“I have done my best to not just gather data in abstraction but learn how to apply it real time and use it to experiment,” he explained.
“We are happy that Dan Williams will share his valuable data and political analysis in time for campaign strategy and organizing for the 2026 election year,” Jody Harlan, Canadian County Democrats chair, said. “Winning the Congressional District 5 race next year is our top priority.”
Jena Nelson, former Oklahoma Teacher of the Year and the 2022 Democratic nominee for state superintendent, officially announced her candidacy for Congressional District 5 on July 19.
