Congrats to Canadian County officers & delegates elected April 12

YUKON, Okla. – The Canadian County Democrats’ elected county officers and delegates to the upcoming congressional and state conventions at their county convention on Saturday, April 12, at Canadian Valley Technology Center Cowan Campus in Yukon.

The convention delegates re-elected Jody Harlan as chair, Tim O’Connor as vice chair, Shirley Burton as secretary, and Linda Pedro and Carlos Barboza as affirmative action officers.

Six delegates wwere elected to atttend the congressional district 3 convention on May 3 at Canadian Valley Tech Center in El Reno: Wes Brower, Sarah Carnes, Don Eckhoff, Joshua Hargis, Melinda Rider and Adilene Velazquez. Affirmative Action Officer Pedro lives in District 3 and will attend that meeting.

Eight delegates will represent Canadian County Democrats at the 5th district convention at Millwood Public Schools on May 10 in Oklahoma City: Leon Archibald, Peggy Archibald, Brandy Becerra, Kendall Cox, Vickie Dobbs, JoJo Hamlin, Isaiah Washington and Courtney Weymouth. Timothy Wagner was appointed to fill a vacant male delegate position. Officers Burton, Harlan, O’Connor and Barboza also live in district 5 and will attend that meeting.

“Dozens of new people responded to a new app(lication) the Oklahoma Democratic Party used to promote our county convention, so we had an outstanding turnout and a lot of enthusiasm this year,” Chair Jody Harlan said. “We signed up grassroots leaders who want to get more involved in electing Democrats and community activities like our scholarship program and our Period Project Canadian County, which donates feminine hygiene supplies to domestic violence shelters and food banks in Canadian County.”

The Canadian County Democrats’ monthly meetings are 7-8:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month, except December, at the Yukon Police Department, 100 S Ranchwood. The next meeting will be May 12.
