Yukon Public School Board president to speak to Democrats Feb. 12 at Yukon Police Department
YUKON, Okla. – The Canadian County Democrats have invited Yukon Public School Board President Suzanne Cannon to speak to the group on Monday, February 12.
The Democrats will meet from 7-8:30 p.m. at Yukon Police Department at 100 S. Ranchwood.
Cannon is a lifelong Oklahoman who has lived the last 48 years in Yukon. She was first elected to school board in 2011 and is currently serving her fourth term as president.
Cannon worked in substance abuse and mental health for 36 years with the last 15 as a private practice counselor in Yukon.
She serves as a director on four other boards and was elected by her peers as a delegate to Oklahoma State School Board Association for a six-county area.
Cannon earned a bachelor’s of arts degree from Oklahoma City University and a master’s of human relations degree from the University of Oklahoma.
Her interest in supporting public education and serving her community can be traced to her father who served as a state representative in the Oklahoma Legislature for two terms.
She is married with two adult children and two grandchildren.
Cannon’s goal is continue serving on the Yukon Public School Board long enough to personally hand diplomas to her grandchildren at their graduations.
Participants who want to join the Canadian County Democrats’ meeting on Zoom may email chair@canadiancodems.org by Sunday, February 11, to request a Zoom link and code required to attend. This is necessary for security reasons based on interference in past meetings.
