Cardinal Point is Canadian County’s Family Justice Center, one of three in the state. The center opened their doors in January 2021 and recently held a formal grand opening on August 20.
A family justice center is a collective impact model where survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking can visit just one place and receive the unique and specialized services of various partner agencies to address their needs and safety.
“At Cardinal Point we enhance safety, healing, and hope by working with people impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and child abuse through public and private partner collaboration,” Coulson said.
“Our purpose is to promote safety for every adult and child in Canadian County by engaging our community to end abuse and violence,” she added.
Coulson is a Certified Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Professional (CDSVRP). She has worked with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking for 18 years.
She was previously employed with the Victim Services Unit at the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office where she served as the victim advocate and program manager of the Address Confidentiality Program.
During her time with OAG she also served on the certification team assisting with the certification of domestic violence, sexual assault, batterer’s intervention and human trafficking programs across the state.
Coulson was a community-based advocate with the YWCA for 13 years, working with residential and non-residential victims as they navigated their way through the various systems towards safety.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and a Master of Science in family and child studies, both from the University of Central Oklahoma.
