YUKON, Okla. – The Oklahoma Democratic Party will offer free training for neighborhood leaders known as precinct officers at the Canadian County Democrats’ monthly meeting from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, July 14. The training will be held at the Yukon Police Department, 100 S. Ranchwood.

Democrats from across the state are invited to attend.

The training will focus on meeting other precinct officers, organizing friends and neighbors, and recruiting Democratic candidates for the 2026 elections.

Molly Oeffner, Oklahoma Democratic Party operations director, will lead the precinct officer training.

Oeffner grew up in the Kansas City area before serving 12 years in the US Coast Guard as a marine science technician. After living in five different states across the country, she has found joy in community organizing and helping people connect to each other through our differences.

“People are tired of the constant arguments they are bombarded with on the internet and the negative news they watch on TV,” Oeffner said. “The time to reconnect with our neighbors is now.”

Molly started volunteering at the Oklahoma Democratic Party in September 2025. She was later employed as the volunteer coordinator and now serves as operations director, where she has takes pride in helping Oklahoma county parties with training resources and strengthening their membership.

“While Canadian County is thought of as primarily a Republican county, data shows that our county is trending 13.13% more Democratic since 2012,” Canadian County Chair Jody Harlan said. “We want our precinct officers to help candidates bring new ideas to the political table that will help working people and families solve real problems.”

Canadian County is divided into 60 precincts or neighborhoods. Positions are still available for precinct chairs, vice chairs and secretaries.
