Rev. Dr. Lori Walke to speak to Canadian County Democrats January 12 about changing expectations
Reverend Dr. Lori Walke, Juris Doctor, will be the Canadian County Democrats’ first special guest speaker of 2026 from 7-8:30 p.m. on January 12 at First Christian Church Fellowship Hall located at 601 Maple Avenue in Yukon.
The Democrats permanently relocated to the church after meeting several years at the Yukon Police Department because the department’s community room is no longer available.
During her presentation, Dr. Walke will discuss the belief that all eyes are on this year’s midterm elections in 2026.
“But the truth is that our approach to living ‘election to election’ has done little for those living ‘paycheck to paycheck,’” she said. “Let’s resolve to work in ways that change expectations of ourselves, of our neighbors and the good we can do together.”
The public is invited to join the Canadian County Democrats and their guest Reverend Dr. Lori Walke to talk about how to make that change.
Dr. Walke serves as senior minister at Mayflower Congregational UCC in Oklahoma City. Blending her background as an attorney and minister, she is enthusiastic about what a well-prepared argument and community can do to make life on earth as it is in heaven.
A public speaker and author with a monthly column in The Oklahoman for the past four years, she gives a voice to those who often lack one.
Dr. Walke earned her bachelor’s of science degree in political science at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater where she was a four-year scholarship student athlete for Cowgirl basketball.
She earned her master’s of science in healthcare administration from OSU and received her J.D. from Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City.
Dr. Walke then went on to earn her master’s of divinity from Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa and was ordained as a minister in the United Church of Christ in 2012.
After serving as associate minister of Mayflower Congregational UCC for eight years, she was called as senior minister in November of 2020. She earned her doctor’s of ministry from Emory University in Atlanta.
Dr. Walke and her husband Collin delight in their seven brilliant nieces and love to spoil Teddy, their ever-grinning pocket pit bulldog.
