CANADIAN COUNTY, Oklahoma — Linda Pedro, candidate for Oklahoma House District 56, will speak to the Canadian County Democrats and friends at 7 p.m. on Monday Sept 14. The meeting will take place in classroom 2A/2B at Canadian Valley Tech Center 6505 E Highway 66 just 5 minutes west of Yukon in El Reno.

The Democrats now use a convenient entrance through the west Seminar Center doors on the south side of the building. Participants should bring an ID to check in through CVTC’s visitor badge system.

Pedro is a proud single mother and member of the Hînonoeî (Arapaho) Tribe who is learning to speak her native language. She works for the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes’ vocational rehabilitation department helping people with disabilities find employment.

“Decisions are being made by legislators who don’t know what life is like for people like us,” Pedro said at a recent meet and greet event. “Everything is so expensive. People are really struggling. Somebody should be able to have a job and take care of themselves and their families.

“We’re having a hard time, but that can change when we elect the right people,” she added. “I am running for office to give people a voice who currently don’t have one in Oklahoma.

“I will represent you, Pedro added. “I would appreciate the honor of your vote. I won’t forget who I am or where I’m from.”

Pedro priorities include:

• Commonsense policies to reduce financial pressure on struggling Oklahoma families

• Excellent educational opportunities for all kids and fair pay for qualified educators and support staff

• Quality health and dental care to enable healthier people to create more productive workplaces and communities

• Cutting red tape by simplifying government systems and policies for everybody.

House District 56 includes the west section of El Reno, Union City and Tuttle and extends south to Chickasha and west to Hinton. Other communities in the district include Amber, Pocasset and Lookeba.

The Canadian County Democrats meet at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at the Career Technology Center in El Reno except December when they have a holiday party.

The Democrats stream meetings on Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/5515451639. The meeting ID is 551 545 1639 and the passcode is 3600. The group reserves the right to refuse entry or remove participants who disrupt any meeting.
